J-AIR, which is part of the JAL Group and is based at Osaka International Airport (Itami), began providing in-flight internet service for the first regional aircraft (small aircraft with less than 100 seats) in Japan from 2022/12. Antenna installation work will be completed on 2024/7/11 (Thursday), and this service will be available on all 14 Embraer 190 (E90) aircraft.
To commemorate this, J-AIR will provide an “unlimited J-AIR video viewing” service on Embraer 190 aircraft (E90) from 7/12 to 9/30 with the cooperation of Intelsat (*1). By connecting to in-flight Wi-Fi, in addition to the existing in-flight internet service where you can use the internet, email, SNS, etc. on your own device, you can also watch video streaming for free during the period. This service, which allows streaming video streaming (*2) on board, is the first attempt by a Japanese airline, and provides new value to customers. Enjoy a comfortable flight while watching your favorite videos on board.
(*1) Based in Virginia, USA, it provides satellite communication services. J-AIR's internet service uses the company's system
Adoption.
(*2) Video streaming: A streaming method in which videos are played back on the spot without downloading them onto a device.
Continuing with this service, the JAL Group is planning to increase communication speed on domestic flights and make international flights free soon for in-flight Wi-Fi. Going forward, we will continue to create new value for Japanese air travel by proposing various ways to spend time on board so that customers can enjoy convenient and comfortable air travel.
