Cathay Pacific Air (00293.HK) announced that in May, it carried 1.6785 million passengers, an 18.4% increase year-on-year and a decrease of about 4% month-on-month. Revenue passenger kilometers increased by 20.8%. The passenger load factor fell by 4.8 percentage points to 80.3%, while available seat kilometers increased by 28%. The first five-month cumulative passenger volume was 8.8219 million, an increase of 40.7%.
Within this month, the cargo volume was 121.1 thousand tons, a 10.2% increase year-on-year. In the first five months, the cumulative cargo volume was 594.9 thousand tons, an increase of 10.2%.
Ronald Lam, Cathay Pacific's Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, said that the airline has resumed 80% of its pre-pandemic passenger flights as planned in the second quarter and is on track to reach 100% by the first quarter of 2025.
