The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 188.94 points (+0.49%) to 38,778.10, Nasdaq rose by 168.14 points (+0.95%) to 17,857.02, and the S&P 500 rose by 41.63 points (+0.77%) to 5,473.23 at the end of trading. After cautious moves due to concerns about the French political situation and the Federal Reserve Board's rate cut, the market fell after the start of trading. Then it turned to buying in anticipation of a soft landing, and the market was strong throughout the day. Towards the end, the gains expanded, and Nasdaq ended up updating its record high for consecutive days.
The Tokyo market opened with a buying trend following the calm of the European situation, the rise of the US market, and the rebound from yesterday's sharp drop. The Nikkei Average returned to the 38,500 yen level after receiving buybacks from futures, but the transaction value of the Prime Market was 3.4 trillion yen and business remained sluggish. Like yesterday, even if the Nikkei Average fluctuated by about 1%, active trading was kept in check.
The closing Nikkei Average was 38,482.11 yen, up 379.67 yen (+1.00%) from the previous day. Trading volume on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market was 1,414,030,000 shares and trading value was 3,410.0 billion yen.
