2. History
The company was established in August 1975 in Nagano Prefecture with the aim of assembling crystals for clocks. They developed their own A2-sized flatbed pen plotter in 1983 and launched the 'Hokusai' brand pen plotter in 1985, which was renowned for its beautiful circular plotting using numerical control. They subsequently started manufacturing and selling large plotters, including cutting plotters that adopted an eccentric cutting method in 1987 and the world's first water-based inkjet printer that used pigment ink for electronic components in 1996, shifting their focus from electronic components to developing and manufacturing products using pen plotter technology. They continued to develop high added value products and expand their nationwide and global sales networks. While they experienced a temporary plateau in growth due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they have achieved a V-shaped recovery and entered a period of renewed growth with their medium- to long-term growth strategy, 'Mimaki V10'.
