Shimadzu Corporation participated as a sponsoring member in the Research Association of Biomass Innovation for Next Generation Automobile Fuels (raBit) on June 7th. raBit is a technical research association established in July 2022 with the purpose of researching the efficiency of fuel production processes. Currently, seven companies, including ENEOS Corporation, Suzuki Motor Corporation, Subaru Corporation, Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd., Toyota Motor Corporation, Toyota Tsusho Corporation, and Mazda Motor Corporation, operate as members. Our company will cooperate with raBit in the research on the efficiency of monitoring methods for the quality and manufacturing process of bioethanol fuel using analytical technology. 2※ Yeast "TOYOTA XyloAceTM" developed by Toyota Motor Corporation ※ Yeast "TOYOTA XyloAce" developed by Toyota Motor Corporation

raBit cultivates non-food crops (second-generation biomass) in Namie-cho, Fukushima Prefecture as raw materials for bioethanol. It aims to efficiently produce bioethanol fuel for automobiles by circulating hydrogen, oxygen, and CO2 during the use and production of biomass. The main research themes are as follows:
1) Research on efficient ethanol production systems
2) Research on the recovery and utilization of by-product oxygen and CO2
3) Research on the efficient operation of the entire system, including fuel utilization
4) Research on efficient methods of cultivating raw materials. Our main product, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), is used to analyze sugars in biomass hydrolysates, sugars, ethanol, and organic acids in bioethanol fermentation broth. We plan to use analytical equipment such as HPLC to monitor each process at raBit's bioethanol production research facility (Okuma-cho, Futaba-gun, Fukushima Prefecture). We will also cooperate with analytical technology to optimize the fermentation process, such as analyzing fermentation inhibitors. Shimadzu Corporation is focusing on the
