Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (located in Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Osamu Hashimoto) has endorsed the Work-Life Balance Co., Ltd.'s (Representative Director: Yoshie Komuro, hereafter "WLB") "100% Paternity Leave Declaration".

What is the 100% Paternity Leave Declaration?

This is a plan sponsored by WLB to declare that companies and government agencies will aim to create a workplace where male employees can take childcare leave 100%. As of April 2024, about 180 organizations have endorsed or declared.

Mitsui Chemicals aims to be an organization where diverse personnel can create value through self-autonomous and cooperative efforts. To achieve this, an environment that allows all employees to work in a lively manner by choosing various ways of working according to their life stages is necessary. We believe that our organization should be one in which all employees, including men, take childcare leave as a matter of course.

Our company's male childcare leave acquisition rate is currently at a high level of 90%, but in order for more employees to take childcare leave and build a fulfilling career in both life and work, we have decided to declare the "100% Paternity Leave Declaration" and aim for further heights.

We have also implemented various measures to support the balance of child-rearing and work, such as establishing a childcare leave system beyond the legal requirements (such as prenatal papa leave and the ability to acquire it until the end of the fiscal year when the child turns 3), and early introduction of flextime and telework systems. We also hold male childcare leave training for management and father's classes that can be attended with partners to promote changes in employee mindset.

We will continue to further promote measures to improve productivity of all employees, including promoting the adoption and use of childcare leave systems, promoting work style reforms, and reviewing and enhancing business with reskilling and DX, in order to create an environment where all employees, including men, can easily acquire childcare leave.
