Large-cap technology stocks rose again on Monday, with the Nasdaq hitting a record closing high for the sixth consecutive day, and the S&P 500 index also reaching a historic high.
The Dow rose 188 points or 0.5% to close at 38,778, the S&P 500 index rose 41 points or 0.8% to close at 5,473, and the Nasdaq rose 168 points or 1% to close at 17,857.
The SPDR Technology Select Sector Fund will undergo adjustments, with Nvidia (NVDA.US) rising to the second highest weight. The stock hit a historic high of $133.73 on Monday, but then fell and closed down 0.7%.
Most of the other US 'magnificent seven' technology stocks rebounded from their early declines and closed higher. Microsoft (MSFT.US) rose 1.3%; Apple (AAPL.US) rose 2%; Alphabet (GOOG.US) rose 0.2%; Amazon (AMZN.US) rose 0.2%; Meta (META.US) rose 0.5%.
Broadcom (AVGO.US) closed up 5.4% and hit a new high.
