Simply Wall St ·  Jun 17 20:38

Over the last year, a good number of insiders have significantly increased their holdings in AMN Healthcare Services, Inc. (NYSE:AMN). This is encouraging because it indicates that insiders are more optimistic about the company's prospects.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At AMN Healthcare Services

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Chief Information & Digital Officer, Mark Hagan, sold US$1.1m worth of shares at a price of US$67.92 per share. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. The good news is that this large sale was at well above current price of US$55.31. So it is hard to draw any strong conclusion from it. Mark Hagan was the only individual insider to sell shares in the last twelve months.

Over the last year, we can see that insiders have bought 34.98k shares worth US$2.0m. But insiders sold 16.00k shares worth US$1.1m. Insider Ownership

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that AMN Healthcare Services insiders own 0.7% of the company, worth about US$15m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
