JAL has applied for fuel surcharges on international cargo.

Japan Airlines ·  Jun 16 23:00

JAL has applied to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for the Japan International Cargo Fuel Surcharge, which will be effective from July 1, 2024. Based on the average price of jet fuel in May 2024, which was $95.58 per barrel, the fuel indicator price will be set at "95.00 to less than 100.00" and the surcharge amount will be 74 yen per kg (long routes such as Americas and Europe), 45 yen per kg (long routes in Asia), and 40 yen per kg (short routes in Asia).
JAL sets the revision period of the Japan International Cargo Fuel Surcharge to 12 times a year (once a month), and determines the amount of cargo fuel surcharge according to the following table introduced from April 2024, using the average value of jet fuel (kerosene) traded in Singapore in the month before the previous month as the fuel indicator price.
JAL will strive to provide stable cargo transportation services while making maximum self-help efforts.
