JAL has decided to apply the current fuel surcharge amount, also known as the Fuel Surcharge, to air tickets issued from August to September 2024 (tickets issued from June to July 2024).
JAL revises the fuel surcharge amount every two months based on the average fuel market price for the previous two months. The average kerosene market price in Singapore from April to May 2024 was $99.41 per barrel. Multiplying this by the average exchange rate for the same period of 154.78 yen per dollar, the yen equivalent of the Singapore kerosene market condition is 15,387 yen. The fuel surcharge for air tickets issued from August to September 2024 will continue to apply the amount in Zone J (15,000 yen standard) according to the condition table.
Overview of International Fuel Surcharges
Application period: From Thursday, August 1, 2024 to Monday, September 30, 2024 (tickets issued during this period).
Fare amount: From Japan (amount is per person per section, one way).
Revision conditions:
For tickets issued from August 1 and September 30, 2024 (Thursday-Monday), changes to the above application amount will not be made in principle, regardless of future airline fuel prices. However, depending on government approval, the amount, revision timing, and application period may change.
2. The fuel surcharge for air tickets issued after October 2024 will be announced in August 2024.
3. If the market average for two months falls below 6,000 yen per barrel, this fare will not be applied.
Application condition:
1. Both adults and children are charged the same amount. Infants under two years of age who do not use seats are exempt. Customers using JAL Mileage Bank international reward airline tickets are also charged the same amount.
