This Nuvation Bio Insider Increased Their Holding In The Last Year

Simply Wall St ·  Jun 15 22:48

Insiders were net buyers of Nuvation Bio Inc.'s (NYSE:NUVB ) stock during the past year. That is, insiders bought more stock than they sold.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Nuvation Bio

Notably, that recent purchase by Kim Blickenstaff is the biggest insider purchase of Nuvation Bio shares that we've seen in the last year. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at around the current price of US$3.02. Of course they may have changed their mind. But this suggests they are optimistic. If someone buys shares at well below current prices, it's a good sign on balance, but keep in mind they may no longer see value. The good news for Nuvation Bio share holders is that an insider was buying at near the current price. The only individual insider to buy over the last year was Kim Blickenstaff.

Insider Ownership Of Nuvation Bio

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Nuvation Bio insiders own 27% of the company, currently worth about US$199m based on the recent share price. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Nuvation Bio Insiders?

It is good to see the recent insider purchase. And an analysis of the transactions over the last year also gives us confidence. However, we note that the company didn't make a profit over the last twelve months, which makes us cautious.
