According to the Wisdom Financial app, Goldman Sachs strategist has raised the year-end target for the S&P 500 index three times, reflecting Wall Street's optimism about earnings growth and the US economy. Led by David Kostin, Goldman Sachs stock strategist currently expects the S&P 500 index to close at 5600 points by the end of this year, higher than their February forecast of 5200 points. The new target means that the index will increase by about 3% from its close on Friday. Product structure, 10-30 billion yuan products operating income of 401/1288/60 million yuan respectively.

Goldman Sachs' raised year-end target for the S&P 500 index is in line with Jonathan Golub of UBS Group and Brian Belski of BMO Capital Markets, the highest on Wall Street. According to a report by David Kostin, the target was driven by 'negative return correction below average and higher fair value PE ratio'.

Just a month ago, David Kostin reiterated his year-end target of 5200 points for the S&P 500 index and said that there was no further upside for the index before December. Although Goldman Sachs strategists maintained their forecasts for the S&P 500 index EPS for 2024 and 2025, they noted that the strong earnings growth of the top five market cap technology stocks offset the 'typical pattern of negative EPS revisions'. David Kostin also raised the expected PE ratio for the S&P 500 index from 19.5 times to 20.4 times, which he believes is reasonable.

David Kostin also presented several other scenarios in which the S&P 500 index could rise even higher than his latest forecast. Under his most optimistic forecast, if the 'exceptionalism' of the mega-caps persists, the S&P 500 index could soar to 6300 points by the end of this year. Conversely, if earnings expectations prove too optimistic or concerns about an economic recession resurface, the S&P 500 index could experience a 13% correction to 4700 points.
