Unicharm Co., Ltd. (Representative Director and President & Executive Officer: Goukyu Takahara) conducted a survey of 1,500 men and women in their 20s to 60s on "Awareness Survey Regarding Sustainable Daily Products" in conjunction with "World Environment Day" on June 5th. Herewith, we would like to announce some of the results.

Summary of the survey results.

(1) Awareness of "World Environment Day" remains at around 35%.

(2) About 70% of those who purchase "sanitary products" (care products, menstrual products, child-rearing products, pet products) want to make "sustainable actions" by selecting, using, and discarding appropriate products. However, in consuming "sanitary products," many feel that they do not know what to do to make "sustainable actions."

(3) Half of the respondents are aware of "sustainable living," and about 60% of those who purchase "care products" are interested in "sustainable living."

(4) "Sustainable living" accounts for over 40% of the opinions such as "I do not want the price of products to go up" and "I want to incorporate things that I can do without difficulty."

Overview of the Survey.

- About 70% of those who purchase "hygiene products" (care products, menstrual products, childcare products, pet products) want to take actions such as choosing, using, and disposing of the products to achieve "sustainable behavior".

- On the other hand, although many people are conscious of "sustainable behavior" for "hygiene products", they feel uncertain about what to do.

- Half of the respondents are aware of "sustainable living".

⇒Adult paper diapers are considered to have a tendency to be conscious of environmental impact because they are larger than children's paper diapers and produce more waste.

(4) What do you think about a sustainable lifestyle? (n=1500)

- More than 40% of the respondents think that they do not want the price of the product to be raised and that they want to incorporate sustainable behavior into their lives without difficulty.

- It is predicted that those in their 30s and those involved in childcare emphasized the price for "sustainable living".

Discussion of the survey results

This survey on "awareness of sustainable daily necessities" revealed that many people are conscious of sustainable behavior for "hygiene products" such as "menstrual products", "pet products", "childcare products", and "care products", and they want to work on it in the future, but they do not know what to do. In response to these results, our company would like to propose a way of life and products that balance comfort of use with sustainable living, especially for the ease of use of hygiene products.

Therefore, we have released a website that promotes sustainable behavior with the keywords "choose, use, and surround" on June 5th, World Environment Day, and introduces our sustainable efforts and how to use our products to reduce waste.
