Towards a sustainable and productive daily necessities supply chain.
Unicharm Corporation (Representative Director and President: Takenori Takahara) has established the "Daily Necessities Supply Chain Council" with Esute Corporation, Nihon Milk Community Co., Ltd., Sunstar Inc., Unilever Japan Customer Marketing KK, Lion Corporation and other eight companies, aiming to collaborate on social issues related to product supply and logistics. We would like to announce this establishment.
Background and Purpose of Establishment
Against a background of population decline and aging, logistics in the daily necessities industry is greatly affected by rising energy costs and labor costs in recent years, making it difficult to maintain conventional low-cost operations and even to maintain daily product circulation.
We believe that individual efforts alone cannot solve these issues, and it is essential for daily necessities manufacturers to work together as an industry to address them. With this recognition, we have established the "Daily Necessities Supply Chain Council" with 13 daily necessities manufacturers.
The Daily Necessities Supply Chain Council will work towards the realization of a sustainable and productive daily necessities supply chain in collaboration with distribution and logistics companies, among others, in order to maintain supply of daily necessities, a necessity of life, whilst contributing to solving social issues related to logistics.
Furthermore, we will utilize Planet Co., Ltd.'s logistics EDI infrastructure to promote smooth logistics data sharing within the industry, and will act as a window for the daily necessities industry in collaboration with adjacent industries, while linking efforts to realize a physical internet by administration.*
