Wu Jie Xu, the listing supervisor of Hong Kong Stock Exchange (00388.HK), stated that Hong Kong has made significant progress in promoting the proportion of female members in senior management of companies. By requiring listed issuers to appoint at least one director of the other gender before the end of this year, the proportion of female board members in Hong Kong listed companies has increased to 84% as of June, compared to 70% in 2021. In addition, one-third of the senior management team of Hong Kong Stock Exchange are women.
She stated that the transitional period for listed companies to increase the proportion of female board members will end at the end of this year. It is expected that gender diversity on the board will be conducive to innovative thinking and inclusive culture, and help create a more balanced and harmonious business environment.
