On June 10, Lilium, a well-known German electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) company, announced the establishment of Lilium Aviation (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. ('Lilium Aviation') in China, serving as its Asia-Pacific headquarters. According to media reports, the low-altitude economy is gradually heating up in China, and Lilium, a well-known German electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) company, plans to seek opportunities in China. Lilium announced on June 10th that it has established Lilium Aviation (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. ('Lilium Aviation') in China as the Asia-Pacific headquarters. The new company is wholly owned by Lilium GmbH. Lilium Aviation will provide support for the sales and services of Lilium Jet products in China and the Asia-Pacific region, and the company will be located in the Shenzhen Baoan Low Altitude Economic Industry Public Service Center. It is expected to start recruiting employees locally in 2024. Lilium said that the company will also apply for airworthiness certification in China. Airworthiness certification is a technical review of the safety of aircraft by civil aviation regulatory authorities and is a prerequisite for the commercialization of aircraft.
