ADR (American Depositary Receipt) Japanese stocks, converted against the Tokyo Stock Exchange rate (1 dollar = 156.62 yen), Disco <6146>, Advantest <6857>, Softbank G <9984>, Tokyo Elec <8035>, Recruit HD <6098>, HOYA <7741>, Mitsubishi Shoji <8058>, etc., rose and overall buying was dominant. The Chicago Nikkei 225 futures settlement price closed at 39,170 yen, up 220 yen from the Osaka daytime high.

The US stock market was mixed. The Dow Jones fell 35.21 dollars to 38,712.21 dollars and the Nasdaq closed at 17,608.44, up 264.89 points. After starting with buying expectations due to lower-than-expected May consumer price index (CPI) and expectations of interest rate cuts in the year, the Dow rose. The Federal Reserve Board (FRB) decided on policy interest rates as expected at the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), but the forecast of interest rate cuts for the year by the members was revised from 3 times to once, and interest rates stopped falling, causing the Dow to turn downward. The Nasdaq continued to be supported by semiconductor-related stocks and recorded its highest level ever again, ending mixed.

In the New York foreign exchange market on the 12th, the dollar-yen fell from 157.35 yen to 155.72 yen, then rose back to 156.70 yen and closed at 156.72 yen. The expectation of interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve Board (FRB) strengthened due to the lower-than-expected growth of the US May consumer price index (CPI), and selling of the dollar intensified due to the decline in long-term interest rates. After that, the Federal Reserve Board (FRB) decided to keep the policy interest rate unchanged as expected at the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), and the staff forecast was revised to an average of one interest rate cut per year from the previous 3 times, which strengthened buying of the dollar. The euro-dollar rose from $1.0760 to $1.0852 and closed at $1.0810. French President Macron denied resigning, easing concerns about political risks and boosting buying of the euro.

NY crude oil futures for July were slightly higher (NYMEX crude oil July final price: 78.50 ↑0.60).
