According to foreign media reports, the U.S. Supreme Court finally agreed to continue the trial of Alphabet Inc-CL C on Friday.OracleAppeal case ".
As early as August 2010, Oracle Corp sued Alphabet Inc-CL C, saying that Alphabet Inc-CL C's Android operating system infringed several intellectual property rights of Oracle Corp's Java platform, that is, the illegal use of 37 Java system API for Android operating system.
In 2012, the court ruled that API was not protected by law and dismissed the case. Subsequently, Oracle Corp appealed, and in March 2018, the US Federal Circuit Court of Appeals overturned the first trial.
Then came Alphabet Inc-CL C's appeal, which was rejected in August last year. If Alphabet Inc-CL C stops taking action, it will be up to the jury to decide what fee Alphabet Inc-CL C should eventually pay to Oracle Corp, who initially asked for $8.8 billion.
But in January, Alphabet Inc-CL C asked the U.S. Supreme Court to terminate Oracle Corp's lawsuit.
There is no doubt that the "going back and forth" between the two sides has made it difficult for the Supreme Court. To this end, the Supreme Court sought help from the Trump administration in April to decide whether to continue to hear Alphabet Inc-CL C's appeal.
On Friday, the Supreme Court decided to continue to hear Alphabet Inc-CL C's appeal case. The Supreme Court said the judges would hear the case during their current term and that a final decision would be made by the end of June next year. (Li Ming)
