On June 12th, in the 2024 China Lit Creative Conference, when it comes to the topic of IP film and television development, China Lit Group CEO Hou Xiaonan said that "Joy of Life 2" is the company's biggest project ever.

This year is a big year for China Lit Group in terms of the commercialization of online literature IP and film and television adaptations. At the beginning of the year, "Rattan" led the way in the Chinese New Year box office. Then, "Joy of Life 2" became the king of drama. Recently, "The Story of the Rose" has been popular.

In these popular TV series and movies, China Lit Group is either the owner of the original IP copyright or the producer.

As an online literature platform, the core business of China Lit Group is still IP development. After Hou Xiaonan took over China Lit Group last year, "upgrading the AIGC to empower a new, multi-modal, multi-category content platform for original content, and building a new IP upstream and downstream integrated ecosystem" was explicitly written into China Lit Group's medium and long-term business plan.

Following the "AI+IP" strategy, the maximization of the commercial value of IP throughout its life cycle has become China Lit Group's top priority.

Taking the highly anticipated "Joy of Life 2" as an example, according to Hou Xiaonan, an S-level "Big Celebration Project" was established within the Group, spanning multiple departments, with the hope of exploring a new model of IP development that integrates books, films and games through "Joy of Life" and concentrating on promoting IP breakthroughs.

The online literature business is always dependent on the continuous supply of good content. Hou Xiaonan said that serving creators has always been the core work of China Lit, so China Lit Group will establish a "1 billion ecological support fund" to increase investment in pre-IP incubation, IP visualization development, and multi-modal infrastructure, and to systematically promote IP operation throughout all stages.

China Lit released the "Miobi" large-scale model last year. In terms of technology applications, according to Huang Yan, Vice President of China Lit Group, AIGC has gradually landed in multiple scenarios at China Lit: AI one-click out to multi-language markets, translation costs have decreased by an average of 90%, and revenue accounts for about 30% of total overseas revenue; in addition to text, in terms of graphics, the "painter" function is already in closed beta; in terms of AI video, in the future, China Lit will further explore the application of AI video in the IP workflow.

Starting from explosively popular literary works, cultivating excellent IP into explosive films, animation, games and other derivative fields is China Lit's goal. In order to form a complete IP industry chain ecology, China Lit Group is currently striving to enter multiple sub-segments such as derivative products, card games, games, short dramas, script killing, co-branded consumer goods, and cultural tourism cooperation.

This year, after the broadcast of "Joy of Life 2", the derivative work "Ye Qin Mei Diary" was also updated on China Lit's online literature platform "Qidian Reading". Earlier, China Lit also sold the copyright for game development. The mobile game "Joy of Life" developed by Shengqu Games' Chuanshi Studio was released on the same day, ranking first in the iOS free game rankings and second in the overall rankings. With the second season broadcasted on May 16th, the mobile game also launched a new version of the drama broadcast.

In terms of short dramas, according to Huang Yan, China Lit is officially upgrading the "short drama galaxy incubation plan", opening up 150 short drama IPs and resources to collaborate with upstream and downstream partners to create, and short dramas derived from large IPs such as "Joy of Life" are already in development.
