Car dealer Ying Zhijie announced that its Inchcape One+ one-stop electric vehicle support platform has established the first public electric car charging station in Landmark East, a Grade A commercial building under Wing Tai Properties (00369.HK), equipped with three 60kW fast chargers and four 7kW medium-speed chargers, which support electric car models of all brands.

The charging station charges based on the amount of electricity used, with a fee of 4 yuan per kilowatt hour and 2.7 yuan per kilowatt hour for fast charging and medium charging respectively. The one-stop mobile application can provide real-time charging status and other information for car owners. Liu Qicheng, the Managing Director of Inchcape Greater China, said that he will actively expand the charging network, including providing charging facilities in commercial buildings and public institutions, and will discuss with Wing Tai to provide preferential fees during low usage periods to enhance equipment utilization.

According to data from the Environmental Protection Department, there are currently over 93,400 electric vehicles in Hong Kong, but only about 8,056 chargers, including 4,662 medium-speed chargers and 1,397 fast chargers, which means that every 11.6 electric vehicles have to compete for one charging spot. Huang Jialun, the Director of After-sales Service for Inchcape in Greater China, emphasized that there is currently no specific expansion target for the charging station network, but the team is in discussions with the government and one or two of the four major oil stations in Hong Kong to plan for the installation of fast charging stations at gas stations. Liu Qicheng expects that adding charging equipment at gas stations will be more efficient than opening charging stations one by one.
