■Reason for the award

Efforts between Daikin Industries (shipper) and Shimonoseki Mitsui Chemicals (shipper) to transport recycled recycled fluorite by sea (domestic shipping company: Imoto Trading Co., Ltd.) as an intermediary between active wood chemicals (logistics operator) were highly evaluated.

● Minimizing environmental impact by combining marine transportation (CO269.2% reduction in emissions), and reduction in working hours for truck drivers (in response to the 2024 issue).

● Shimonoseki Mitsui Chemicals replaced fluorine sources procured from overseas with fluorine contained in fluorine-containing industrial waste that had previously been discarded domestically, and effectively used for fluorite (calcium fluoride). Contributing to building a recycling-oriented society.

● We have developed a dedicated large container for transporting recycled fluorite by sea, reducing transportation frequency and improving workability due to large lots.

■Business Comment Shimonoseki Mitsui Chemicals President and CEO: Yokawa Naokazu

As a core group company of the Mitsui Chemicals Group, we have set the goal of becoming a “phosphoric acid specialty company with a strong presence around the world” as a future vision, focusing on manufacturing, sales, and research in the phosphoric acid business, and are actively developing corporate activities every day with the aim of becoming a company that is popular and respected on the global stage.

Among them, from the beginning of the company's establishment in 2000, we commercialized a service that collects and recycles industrial waste discharged from various industries using technology developed independently. In particular, we reuse hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid, calcium fluoride, calcium phosphate, etc. as part of our product ingredients, which were considered difficult to recover and reuse in the past.

Going forward, we will continue to push forward with the pursuit of 4R (Replace, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), which is our philosophy, harmony with the global environment through this environmental business. Furthermore, the Mitsui Chemicals Group will continue to meet the expectations and trust of the local community and society and contribute to the sustainable development of society and the chemical industry.
