The Nikkei Average is up 122 yen (as of 1:50 pm). In terms of its contribution to the Nikkei Average, companies such as Toshiba <8035>, Advantest <6857>, and Chugai Pharmaceutical <4519> are among the top contributors to the increase, while NTT Data G <9613>, TDK <6762>, and Eisai <4523> are among the top contributors to the decrease. In terms of sectors, non-ferrous metals, machinery, pulp and paper, oil and coal products, and precision instruments are among the top gainers, while securities, futures, marine transportation, air transportation, warehouse transportation, and iron and steel are among the top decliners.
The Nikkei Average is showing a somewhat directionless movement. Although it struggled after an early rise, the fact that it's holding up well on the downside seems to be reassuring the market. On the other hand, the sluggishness of Dow Jones futures and the decline of the Hong Kong Hang Seng Index and Shanghai Composite Index seem to be weighing on Tokyo market stocks.
