ADR (American Depositary Receipt) Japanese stocks such as Tokyo Electric <8035>, Disco <6146>, Softbank G <9984>, Renesas <6723>, Mizuho Financial Group <8411>, Advantest <6857>, Sony <6758> etc. rose compared to the Tokyo Stock Exchange (1 dollar = 157.02 yen), and overall buying was dominant. The Chicago Nikkei 225 futures settlement price was 39,185 yen, up 185 yen from Osaka daytime trading.
The U.S. stock market rebounded. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 38,868.04, up 69.05 points, and the Nasdaq closed at 17,192.53, up 59.40 points. It was sold after the early rate cut expectation receded, and after opening, it fell. At the same time, buying of high-tech supported the market, due to hope for a soft landing and anticipation of the announcement of new artificial intelligence (AI) functions for Apple's mobile devices (AAPL). This was despite fears of the release of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) later this week. The Nasdaq maintained its positive zone, renewing its all-time high.
On the New York foreign exchange market on the 10th, the dollar rose from 156.80 to 157.10 yen and closed at 157.05 yen. As expectations for an early rate cut due to the latest U.S. employment statistics receded, as well as the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) wait, dollar buying became dominant against the background of rising long-term interest rates. While the New York Fed's expected inflation for one year declined, its expected inflation for five years rose, and the bid for three-year bonds ended with a lackluster result, the dollar continued to rise with further interest rate hikes. The euro/dollar fell to 1.0733 dollars and then rose to 1.0765 dollars, as Euro-selling to avoid uncertainty in French politics remained at bay.
NY crude oil futures for July rose (NYMEX crude oil for July ended at 77.74, up 2.21).
