英伟达的新客户:AI“国家队”

Nvidia's new customer: AI 'National Team'.

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, governments and state-owned enterprises around the world are increasing their investment in AI infrastructure. Against this background, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has recently traveled around the world, actively expanding new customers globally - targeting government institutions and state-owned enterprises responsible for national computing infrastructure.

In the context of the cooling demand for purchasing from large cloud companies, these new customers of "autonomous AI" may become a new lever for Nvidia to maintain high growth.

Last month, Nvidia said that national-level artificial intelligence projects are expected to bring in nearly $10 billion in revenue for the company this year, compared with almost zero last year. The company's financial report shows that Nvidia's total revenue in the first quarter hit $26 billion, nearly half of which came from large cloud computing companies.

Recently, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has "gone global" to promote investment in artificial intelligence by governments, state-owned telecommunications and utilities companies, which are typically responsible for national computing infrastructure.

Last September, Huang visited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, followed by meetings with prime ministers of Singapore and Japan in December. Earlier this year, he also met with officials from the United Arab Emirates and Canada.

In a speech in Dubai, Huang told the audience:

"You have your own data. So you must use that data, perfect that data, and establish your own intelligence. You can't have other people do it for you."

In terms of national-level artificial intelligence investment, Singapore is one of the largest investors, with its National Supercomputing Center upgrading to Nvidia's latest artificial intelligence chips, while state-owned telecommunications company Singapore Telecommunications is partnering with Nvidia to expand its data center footprint in Southeast Asia. Additionally, Singapore is pushing a large-scale language model training project based on Southeast Asian languages.

Canada and Japan are also making major project investments. Last month, Canada pledged $1.5 billion in funding for its autonomous computing strategy to startups and researchers, while Japan announced an investment of about $740 million to enhance the country's artificial intelligence computing capabilities following Huang's visit.

Similar push activities are also underway in Europe, with telecommunications companies in France and Italy using Nvidia chips to build artificial intelligence supercomputers to develop large-scale language models in local languages. Last month, French President Emmanuel Macron called for the establishment of public-private partnerships to purchase more graphics processing units (GPUs) in Europe, with a goal of increasing its chip share deployed globally from the current 3% to 20% by 2030 or 2035.

Similar efforts are underway in African countries as well. Last month, Kenya signed an agreement with Microsoft and UAE-backed AI firm G42 to build a $1 billion data center in the country and directly train Swahili and English models using the country's geothermal energy.

Creating new levers for higher revenue?

Analysts say that for Nvidia, the pride of global countries in "autonomous computing" may be a new driver of growth if demand from its core technology company customers, such as Microsoft, Amazon, and Google parent Alphabet, cools. Although the company's sales growth has slowed in recent quarters, analysts predict that its revenue will continue to grow. CFRA Research analyst Angelo Zino said:

"The sales growth trajectory of cloud computing giants is 'clearly unsustainable', but Nvidia can continue to profit from the artificial intelligence boom in other ways.

The question is, how can they maintain this momentum? Autonomous artificial intelligence is a new lever for creating higher revenue.

The question is, how can we maintain this momentum? Autonomous artificial intelligence is a new lever to create higher incomes in each country.
