After the finale of Joy of Life 2, another television drama has become popular on Tencent Video.

On June 8th, several related entries including Liu Yifei and the Story of Roses became hot searches on weibo.

It is reported that on the same night, the television drama "The Story of Roses" premiered in the golden time slot of CCTV-8, while Tencent video served as its exclusive online broadcasting platform.

"The Story of Roses" is adapted from the novel with the same name by Yi Shu. It tells the story of a woman's growth and transformation in different stages of life. It is written by Li Xiao and Wang Si, directed by Wang Jun, and stars Liu Yifei, Tong Dawei, and Wan Qian. Lin Gengxin is invited to play a special role and Lin Yi and Peng Guanying make special appearances. Huo Jianhua stars as a special actor.

According to the official weibo of "The Story of Roses", the show broke a heat value of 24,000 on its platform in just 95 minutes of launch, becoming the fastest urban drama on Tencent video to reach this value.

As of the time of publication, the drama has accumulated over 3.582 million views on the entire network, with a current heat value of 8120.01, ranking first according to Maoyan Professional data.

According to Lighthouse Professional information, the show is produced by CCTV, Shanghai Tencent Penguin Film and Television Culture Communication Co., Ltd., New Li TV Cultural Investment Co., Ltd., and Red Star Wenchuang Media Investment Co., Ltd.

Previously, the production team behind the recently ended "Joy of Life 2" included CCTV, Tencent video, China Literature and its affiliated New Li TV. Public information reveals that China Literature and New Li TV are both under Tencent's China Lit Group.

During the broadcast period, the show had a remarkable record, with a heat value on Tencent video breaking the all-time high record; CCTV's viewership reached 1.07%, and its real-time viewership peak at Kuyun ranked first in the evening TV drama category on the star channels. At the same time, in multiple overseas regions such as Singapore, Disney+ streaming platform also simultaneously launched the series, making it the most popular Chinese mainland drama ever broadcast on Disney+.

In fact, Tencent Video has already produced a number of popular TV dramas this year. According to Tencent's Q1 2024 report, its paying members increased by 8% to 116 million year-on-year, driven by dramas such as "Blossom in Heart", "Hunting Ice" and "Perfect World Season 4". With the hot ending of "Joy of Life 2" and the high heat of "The Story of Roses" at its launch, it is expected that Tencent's paying member count will continue to grow in Q2.
