Jake Paul-Mike Tyson Boxing Match Set To Stream On Netflix With New Date

Benzinga ·  Jun 8 00:15

The much-anticipated boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson has been rescheduled for Nov. 15. The event will be streamed live on Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:NFLX).

What Happened: The fight, initially scheduled for July 20, was postponed due to Tyson's medical issues. The new date for the match was announced by Most Valuable Promotions, the event's co-founder, reported ESPN.

The rescheduled fight will be held at the AT&T Stadium, with the co-main event featuring a highly anticipated rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano for Taylor's undisputed super lightweight championship.

The decision to hold the fight on a Friday, instead of the usual Saturday, was influenced by the Dallas Cowboys' game on Nov. 18. This scheduling allows the stadium to be set up for the football game.

Despite the delay, both fighters are committed to delivering a memorable match. "While we have a new date, the result will be the same no matter when we fight. Jake Paul is getting knocked out," Tyson stated.

Why It Matters: Netflix's decision to stream the fight is in line with the streaming giant's recent moves to diversify its content and attract new subscribers. The company has been expanding its offerings with mobile games and reality shows, and now, it is adding live sports to its repertoire.

Netflix's stock has been performing well, following the success of its international projects and ad-supported plan. The company is also testing a new TV app interface to enhance user experience and make it easier for subscribers to find content that suits their preferences.
