According to the Zhītōng Cáijīng app, Fiona Harvey, the prototype of the female lead in Netflix's popular original series "Reindeer Baby", accuses Netflix of defamation because the female lead in the show was convicted of stalking, but she claims that in reality she was not convicted or imprisoned.
Harvey has filed a lawsuit in a federal court in Los Angeles seeking at least $170 million in compensation, claiming that this highly popular Netflix show wrongly portrayed her as a twice-convicted stalker. Harvey publicly claimed to be the inspiration for the character in the show, created by Richard Gadd.
Netflix said it will actively defend against the incident, and support Richard Gadd, the creator of "Reindeer Baby", in telling his story.
It is reported that a few days ago, the streaming giant settled another defamation lawsuit related to the 2019 series "When They See Us", which tells the story of the Central Park rape case in 1989. Netflix was sued for its portrayal of Linda Fairstein in the series, who was originally the lead prosecutor in the case.
