The Hang Seng Index opened 85 points higher and rose 98 points to 18,575 points during the initial stage before falling back. It fell 174 points to 18302 points in the afternoon and closed down 109 points or 0.6% for the day, standing at 18,366 points. National index fell 44 points or 0.7%, closing at 6,510 points. Its stock price opened 2% higher but fell back afterwards, closing down 2% for the day at HKD 110.4. NIO Inc. (09866.HK) quarterly losses expanded to RMB 5.258 billion, and its stock price plunged 7.2% to HKD 38.25.

Alibaba (09988.HK) closed at HKD 77.1 with little change. Tencent (00700.HK) fell 1.8% to HKD 374.8. Xiaomi (01810.HK) and JD.com (09618.HK) fell 1.9% and 1.4%, respectively. Kuaishou (01024.HK) and Bilibili (09626.HK) fell 3.2% and 4.1%. AI concept stock Lenovo Group (00992.HK) and chip equipment stock ASMPT (00522.HK) gave back more than 6%. Mobile-related stock Sunwoda (02382.HK) fell 2.9%. Foxconn Industrial Internet (02038.HK) and BYD Electronic (00285.HK) fell 2.4% and 5.3%, respectively. GOWELL (01415.HK) and HT-SAAE (06088.HK) fell 8.6% and 9.6%, respectively. AAC Technologies (02018.HK) reversed to rise 3.7%.

In addition, BYD (01211.HK), Ideal (02015.HK) and Xiaopeng (09868.HK) fell 0.5% to 1.1%, and Chang'an (02333.HK) fell 4%.

Chinese power stocks Huaneng (00902.HK), Datang International Power Generation (00991.HK), Huadian Power International Corporation (01071.HK), and CGN Power Co., Ltd. (01816.HK) rose 3.8% to 4.2%, and Longyuan Power (00916.HK) rose 5.2%. Environmental protection-generated power stock EB Environment (00257.HK) rose 5.4%. Gold and silver stocks rose, with China Silver (00815.HK) and Lingbao (03330.HK) up 4.7% and 4.1%, respectively, and Shandong Gold (01787.HK) and Zhaojin Mining Industry (01818.HK) up more than 3%. Resource stock Jiangxi Copper (00358.HK) rose 3.1%.

In other stocks, China Tower (00788.HK) rose 4.2%, Guangdong Inv (00270.HK) rose 5.4%. Financial stock HSBC (00005.HK) rose 0.6%, but Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (00388.HK) and AIA Group (01299.HK) fell 0.8% and 1.2%, respectively. Mainland real estate stocks generally rose, with Greentown China (03900.HK) up 3.8%, Yuexiu Property (00123.HK) and China Overseas Land & Investment (00376.HK) up 2.9% and 2.3%, respectively. China State Construction International Holdings (00688.HK) reported a 33% YoY decline in the sales of contracted properties in May, and the stock rose 1.9%.
