Star Alliance, London Heathrow Airport Terminal 2
Commemorating the 10th anniversary of service

  • ・23 Star Alliance member airlines operate flights to Heathrow Airport Terminal 2, which is commonly known as the Star Alliance Terminal, and more than 120 flights depart every day.
  • ・To commemorate this special day, we're celebrating with complimentary sweets for customers flying with Star Alliance member airlines.

Star Alliance, together with its member airlines, has been providing outstanding service for 10 years at Terminal 2, which is the base of Heathrow Airport. As a base for 23 Star Alliance member airlines, Queens Terminal supports smooth connections and operations for more than 15 million passengers each year, and accounts for nearly 20% of the airport's available seats.

To commemorate this, Star Alliance Chief Executive Theo Panagioturias stated: “Heathrow Airport is an important hub for member airlines. We are proud to provide seamless service to thousands of customers every day with our comprehensive services in shared terminals. On behalf of our member airlines, I would like to thank Heathrow Airport for its 10 years of support.”

Under the strategic initiative of “gathering under one roof,” Star Alliance consolidated its member airlines into one location in 2014 and established a true alliance hub. This initiative has made it easier for customers to transfer between Star Alliance member airlines, greatly streamlining airport operations and improving the customer experience.

Ross Baker, Chief Customer Officer at Heathrow Airport, said: “Heathrow Airport is very pleased to have provided excellent service over 10 years to customers using Terminal 2, which was once selected as the “World's Best Terminal” by Skytrax's World Sky Awards. Thanks to Star Alliance's collaboration with partner airlines, including its member airlines, approximately 73 million customers have departed from Terminal 2 and enjoyed world-class retail and dining options. Reaching this milestone is a great opportunity for us to reflect on our 10 years of achievements, and also to look ahead to the next 10 years as we continue to build extraordinary airports suitable for the future.”

A large Star Alliance logo is displayed above the airline check-in counter in the departure lobby of Terminal 2 to welcome guests. Star Alliance, together with member airlines, provides facilities for seamless services such as:

  • • Gold Track Security: Star Alliance Gold status customers can quickly undergo security checks from dedicated lanes regardless of flight class.
  • ・Baggage Tracking: A service that allows you to check the location of your baggage, and at London Heathrow Airport, more than 85,000 pieces of baggage are scanned every day on Star Alliance member airline flights, so customers can use it with peace of mind.
  • ・Star Connection Centre: Star Connection Center provides a service that allows customers with few transit times to travel within the airport in a short time. Heathrow's Star Connections Centre guides more than 1,000 passengers each month and holds more than 750 pieces of baggage, contributing to cost reduction for member airlines and improved customer convenience.
  • • Upgraded Heathrow Express Upgrade: Star Alliance Gold status customers can upgrade to the Heathrow Express Business First Cabin, which connects the airport to Paddington Station, free of charge.
