The US stock market was mixed on the 6th. The Dow Jones rose 78.84 dollars (+0.20%) to 38,886.17 dollars, the Nasdaq fell 14.78 points (-0.09%) to 17,173.12, and the S&P 500 fell 1.07 points (-0.02%) to 5,352.96. Although US stocks were mixed, the Tokyo market opened slightly lower due to weakness in the Philadelphia semiconductor index (SOX index). The Nikkei average did not continue to decline, rising slightly at one point, but ultimately remained in a consolidation market between 38,600 yen, where the 25-day moving average is located, before the release of US employment statistics.
At the end of the day, the Nikkei average was 38,683.93 yen, down 19.58 yen (-0.05%) from the previous day. The trading volume on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market was 1.3464 billion shares, with a trading value of 3.4623 trillion yen. Among the industries, electric power and gas, transportation equipment, securities and commodity futures trading, petroleum and coal products, and land transportation were down, while nonferrous metals, services, chemicals, marine transportation, and mining were up. The number of rising stocks on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market was 57%, while the number of declining stocks was 38%.
Advantest <6857> was the top contributor to the decline and pushed the Nikkei average down by about 41 yen with one stock. Shionogi <4507> was in second place, followed by Tokyo Electric <8035>, SoftBank Group <9984>, Toyota <7203>, Nidec <6594>, Daikin <6367>, and others.
On the other hand, First Retail <9983> was the top contributor to the rise, pushing the Nikkei average up by about 28 yen with one stock. Laser Tech <6920> was in second place, followed by Nichiden <6988>, Recruit HD <6098>, Shin-Etsu Chemical <4063>, Daiichi Sankyo <4568>, TDK <6762>, and others.
