Company Overview
Wacom <6727> was established in 1983 in Ageo City, Saitama Prefecture. The name comes from the combination of "World" and "Computer". The "WA" represents the harmony between humans and computers, while the "COM" includes the meanings of communication and community. In 1984, Wacom announced the world's first cordless pen tablet product. In 1987, the professional graphics pen tablet "SD series" was released, which was used in filmmaking by The Walt Disney Company. Since then, the company has continuously improved its products and has been a market leader in the creator-based pen tablet market since the 2000s.
In 1991, the company also entered the pen sensor components (now the Technology Solutions Business) field. Wacom supplies digital pens, control ICs, touch panels, and other components and modules to finished product manufacturers on an OEM basis, and has grown rapidly with the expansion of the tablet, notebook PC, and smartphone markets.
Wacom was listed on the Japan Securities Dealers Association JASDAQ market in April 2003 and has been listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange First Section since December 2005. As of April 2022, it has been transferred to the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market.
