On the first day Disney launched the video streaming service Disney+, a total of 10 million subscribers. Disney's stock price soared by more than 7%, and saw a record high of 149.92 US dollars, with a market value increase of about 18 billion US dollars in a single day. Together with other existing video streaming services, including Hulu and ESPN+,DisneyVideo streaming service customers rose to 40.3 million, still lagging behindNetflix60 million of them.
The Disney+ service costs $7 a month and offers about 500 movies and 7,500 TV episodes, and new programs. Additional subscription packages for ESPN+ and Hulu services cost $13 per month. Disney had expected Disney+ to reach 60 million to 90 million subscribers worldwide in 2024.
