Ontario Dentist 'Smile Stylist' Dr. Hisham Kaloti Faces Multiple Lawsuits Filed by Advocai LLP on Behalf of Former Patients Who Allege Battery, Malpractice and Use of Unlicensed Dental Devices

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Individuals treated by the self-styled "Smile Stylist" dentist, Dr. Hisham Kaloti, are being sought amid medical battery and malpractice lawsuits due to alleged unapproved dental veneers and crowns. The claims allege that Dr. Kaloti installed unlicensed dental devices without patient consent, resulting in numerous injuries and complications while operating the dental practice, "The Smile Stylist," in the Greater Toronto/Oakville area.

The claims brought by Advocai LLP on behalf of numerous former patients allege that Dr. Kaloti committed medical battery by installing dental devices in their mouths that were not approved by Health Canada. The claims also allege that Dr. Kaloti performed procedures negligently without disclosing to his patients that the dental devices were unlicensed.

"We encourage all patients who have had veneers or crowns installed by Dr. Kaloti to find out whether their medical devices were ordered from the 'Foo Tian Dental Laboratory,' which is an unregistered laboratory based in China," says Christine Morano, partner at Advocai LLP.

The claims allege that Dr. Kaloti installed the unlicensed dental devices from Foo Tian Dental Laboratory in his patients without their consent and profited from the difference in cost between the unlicensed products and licensed Canadian dental devices produced by certified dental laboratories.

The plaintiffs allege that they have suffered from numerous injuries and complications as a result of procedures performed by Dr. Kaloti, including: pain and suffering; damaged teeth; bite misalignment; tooth discoloration; hardware/veneer debonding, and other injuries to the mouth and jaw.

The plaintiffs allege damages for battery, negligence, and/or breach of fiduciary duty, as well as punitive and aggravated damages. The claims also seek reimbursement for the amounts paid to Dr. Kaloti by these patients for the installation of the veneers and/or crowns and the cost of dental work required to repair the damage caused by Dr. Kaloti's alleged malpractice.

Advocai LLP has filed claims on behalf of the plaintiffs in Halton (Milton) Courthouse. Potential victims who suspect that Dr. Kaloti may have installed veneers, crowns, or other dental hardware in their mouths from the Foo Tian Dental Laboratory or those seeking more information about ongoing claims are encouraged to contact Advocai LLP at cmorano@advocai.com or 647-689-2495.
