Since ancient times in Hawaii, concepts such as “Aloha ʻāina (aloha to the earth)” and “Mālama ʻāina (compassion for the earth)” have permeated local residents. Various initiatives are being carried out by local NPOs to pass on Hawaiian culture and Hawaiian values etc. based on the concept “ahupuaʻa (ahupuaa),” which indicates a shared living area unique to Hawaii, to the community and to the next generation of children who will lead the future. An amount equivalent to a portion of the JAL Mahalo fare will be used to support NPOs that carry out sustainable activities in “Kai = sea” and “ʻāina = land” in “Ahupuaʻa.”

I would like to thank Japan Airlines for its 70-year Hawaii route business. This JAL Mahalo fare initiative supports non-profit organizations that are actively working so that Hawaiian nature and culture can be passed on to the next generation, and it will be a wonderful example of how the tourism industry contributes to the local community. We are very happy to be able to welcome many Japanese customers to Hawaii through our future efforts.

I sincerely congratulate Japan Airlines on its 70th anniversary of international service. Since the first service was launched 70 years ago, it is also the Tokyo-Honolulu-San Francisco route, and thank you very much for providing wonderful travel opportunities to so many travelers as an important bridge connecting Hawaii and Japan until today. The JAL Mahalo fare introduced at this special milestone is a great effort to show appreciation and respect for Hawaii's natural environment and culture, and to support local nonprofits. This is consistent with the “Malama Hawaii (Heart of Caring for Hawaii)” that we are working on, and promotes sustainable tourism to pass on Hawaii's natural resources and cultural heritage to the next generation, and I am deeply grateful once again. We look forward to continuing to protect Hawaii's beautiful nature and rich culture with Japan Airlines and pass it on to the next generation.
