Zhong Yin Bank Hong Kong (02388) has announced the launch of the first carbon footprint tracking function in Hong Kong within the mobile banking "Carbon.Life" section, to further promote the bank's digital green transformation and support customers towards a green and low-carbon lifestyle, according to the Finance Wisdom APP.

BOC Hong Kong Mobile Banking uses artificial intelligence to integrate and classify transaction data from various accounts to estimate customers' carbon footprints, or the total amount of greenhouse gases directly and indirectly emitted by individuals in daily life, and convert them into examples of daily life, such as the distance traveled by cars. Customers can also check their carbon footprint level and understand how their financial habits affect the environment. This function is now available to selected customers and will be further expanded to other customers in July.

Li Bin, digital director of personal finance and wealth management business at BOC Hong Kong, said that the bank has been continuously promoting digital and paperless services. As of March of this year, nearly 90% of the bank's transactions have been completed through digital channels, and the number of active mobile banking customers has increased by nearly 20% year-on-year, reflecting customers' preference for convenient and eco-friendly online financial services. He added that BOC Hong Kong Mobile Banking was the first to launch a "Carbon.Life" section providing environmental and financial information, which was well-received by customers. As of May, the daily browsing volume of the section has increased by more than 40% compared to last year.

In addition to the carbon footprint tracking function, the "Carbon.Life" section of the mobile banking app also includes personal spending analysis, allowing customers to visualize monthly transaction information on categories, details, and distribution of personal consumption, assisting customers in managing daily expenses and developing sound financial plans.
