Spectrum will mark Pride Month throughout June with an On Demand collection of movies and TV shows available for rent and to watch for free celebrating the LBGTQ+ community.
Customers with Spectrum TV can access pay movies in the On Demand portal under the Pride Month category through the end of June. Titles include the 1999 biographical film "Boys Don't Cry," starring Hilary Swank as a transgender man murdered in a hate crime; Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara in a forbidden romance in "Carol;" Mahershala Ali as a drug dealer who becomes a father figure to a child he finds on the streets in "Moonlight;" and Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer in the story of a romantic relationship between a teenager and graduate student in 1980s Italy in "Call Me By Your Name."
Additional Pride Month movies for rent include the 2005 British comedy "Kinky Boots," starring Joel Edgerton and Chiwetel Ejiofor, who team up to save a struggling shoe factory by producing custom footwear for drag performers; "Love Lies Bleeding," a 2024 crime thriller with Kristen Stewart, Katy O'Brian and Jena Malone; 1993's "Philadelphia," starring Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington in the legal drama about a lawyer fired for his sexuality and HIV status; "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," the 2012 coming-of-age drama with Logan Lerman and Emma Watson; and "The Wedding Banquet," about a man who is not open about his sexuality with his Taiwanese parents.
Depending on their level of Spectrum TV services, customers can access scripted and reality series for no additional cost under the category LGBTQIA+ in the On Demand portal. Programs include the reality shows "I Am Jazz," about a transgender teenager growing up in South Florida; "Family Karma," about Indian American families in Miami; and "RuPaul's Drag Race," the long-running competition series for America's next drag superstar. Scripted programming in the portal includes the gothic horror series "Interview With A Vampire," and "Schitt's Creek," the award-winning Canadian sitcom.
