Glonghui June 3 | Hong Kong Broadband (1310.HK) bucked the trend at the beginning of the session and fell 6.5% to HK$2.42. The stock reversed the market and rose nearly 10% last Friday, as Bloomberg quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that IDG Capital is considering acquiring Hong Kong Broadband and has finalized a financing plan for a potential offer. Bloomberg also pointed out that Hong Kong Broadband has also initially attracted the interest of Chinese companies, including China Mobile. However, an IDG spokesperson said on Monday that the company did not participate and was unaware of the relevant situation. In March, some media reported that the majority shareholders of Hong Kong Broadband are reportedly reconsidering potential transactions with the company, including privatizing or introducing new investors. Major shareholders, including private equity firms MBK Partners and TPG Inc., have restarted strategic assessments with the goal of reducing their holdings in Hong Kong Broadband.
