Resume is not equal to experience

Recently, “AI God”, Dai Wenyuan, founder and CEO of Fourth Paradigm Company, was a guest in Gelonghui's high-end interview “Dr. Gelong's Living Room”.

Dai Wenyuan said that in the course of various contests, he found that he couldn't compete with other players with his own abilities, but there wasn't much of a gap between them, and he could continue to work hard.

I set a goal when I was very young, but in fact, I never thought about whether this goal was correct; anyway, I was just doing it and maintaining a positive and optimistic attitude in my heart.

I can't say winning the ACM competition means anything, because in a secular sense, Facebook's CTO and others are more successful.

Resume is not equal to experience

Looking back at Dai Wenyuan's journey since school, the results of the competition seemed very exciting, but everyone is still curious why Shanghai Jiaotong University and Dai Wenyuan formed such a great team with him.

Dai Wenyuan said that not only did he win four championships, but he also participated in various competitions and lost most of them. His experience did not seem as bright as on his resume.

I remember that the first time I participated in the competition was in the sixth grade of elementary school. The teacher gave him an admission card to take the exam, and only discovered after the exam was over that it turned out to be a competition. After the comparison, I found that I couldn't do most of the questions. In the end, I scored 28 points in the exam.

At the time, Dai Wenyuan discovered that there was still a big gap between himself and those gods, but he also felt that hard work did not mean that there were no opportunities.

After several years of hard work, Dai Wenyuan scored 100 points in the Jiangsu Provincial Tournament. The next day, I was told that I was going to participate in another competition. Dai Wenyuan was very puzzled and said that it's already better than finished, why is it better than tomorrow?

It was only after I went that the Jiangsu Provincial Team Qualifying Tournament was held, and the provincial team was selected to participate in the national tournament. Then I went to the exam again, but of course I didn't get selected.

On the field, Dai Wenyuan discovered that he couldn't compete with other players with his own abilities, but there wasn't much of a gap between them, and Dai Wenyuan felt that he could continue to work hard.

Actually, most of them are like this; I can't talk about how successful they are every time. Including later joining Shanghai Jiaotong University and being selected as the main team of Jiaotong University during his freshman year. The first team lost to the second team in the Asian qualifiers. In the end, the second team represented Shanghai Jiaotong University to participate in the finals.

In her sophomore year, Dai Wenyuan's team reached the finals as desired, and even shouted slogans before participating in the finals, saying they will work hard and compete for the championship this time.

As soon as they got on the field, they slept for the first four hours of the five-hour game, and they didn't even get a prize. It wasn't until the last year that they won the championship in the competition.

However, in the process, Dai Wenyuan said that he can still see the bad side of his work, and he can also continue to see room for improvement. With more effort, every year will be a little better than last year.

Defeat many powerful opponents

During his undergraduate studies at Shanghai Jiaotong University, Dai Wenyuan led the team to win the Asian championship in the international college program competition known as Computer Olympiad three times, and won the world championship in the 29th World ACM Competition.

In that game, many of the opponents Dai Wenyuan defeated became leaders in the global AI field, such as Facebook's CTO Adam D'Angelo.

Referring to Adam D'Angelo, Dai Wenyuan joked that he wasn't actually a good person to participate in the game, so I didn't feel his presence on the field.

At the time, the main opponents were some Russian teams. Among them, the third-place Russian team had never lost since forming the team; that was the first game they lost since forming a team.

If you follow achievements in a secular sense, the CTO of Facebook and the founder of Quora, these achievements are even higher. So from a certain point of view, I can't say that an ACM competition means anything.
