The Securities Times reporter learned thatDeutsche BankZhang Zhiwei, the former chief Chinese economist, recently joined Baobin Investment as the company's chief economist. Zhang Zhiwei himself officially took office today.
Prior to joining Baobin Investments, Zhang Zhiwei was the chief economist and head of stock strategy in Greater China. Also, according to public information, Zhang Zhiwei graduated from the China University of Foreign Economics and Trade and the University of California, San Diego, and obtained bachelor's and doctorate degrees respectively.
He has extensive experience working in foreign-funded institutions. He joined the Central Bank of Canada as an economist; from 2002 to 2008, he worked for the Asia Pacific Department and Research Department of the International Monetary Fund; joined the Hong Kong Monetary Authority in 2008 to be responsible for macroeconomic research in China; and was the chief economist of Nomura Securities in China from 2011 to 2014.
