[Daily Weather Tracking] Recent rainfall in the southern United States has partially restricted field operations

Golden10 Data ·  May 28 21:31

The US National Weather Service's 6-10 day forecast from June 2 to June 6 predicts that most parts of the country may experience temperatures close to or above normal, with the exception of parts of Georgia and Carolina.

The following are US agricultural weather tips for Tuesday, May 28, 2024, compiled exclusively by the Jin10 Futures App

Western US region

Warm, dry weather prevails except in the northwestern Pacific Ocean. Today's heat in the southwestern desert will exceed 100°F, and may reach 90°F in northern Idaho. In contrast, the inland regions along the North Pacific coast have begun to experience cool and rainy weather.

American Plains

Unstable weather conditions will continue to occur in some regions, characterized by heavy winds caused by local torrential rain and thunderstorms. Meanwhile, in the northern and central Great Plains, dry weather favors field work and crop development.

The weather was cool due to the cold front crossing the border. Today, high temperatures will remain below 70°F in most parts of the northern corn belt. Additionally, sporadic showers from the Upper Mississippi Valley to the Great Lakes region are delaying field work. Producers in scattered areas of the Midwest are evaluating the agricultural infrastructure impacts associated with recent severe thunderstorms, some of which have produced damaging high winds.

Southern region of the United States

Hot and humid weather continues, particularly in and around the Gulf Coast. Earlier today, some regions, including Florida and parts of eastern Texas, experienced rainfall. With a few exceptions, crops have sufficient moisture to develop properly, although recent rainfall has partially restricted field operations, including mowing. Additionally, weekend thunderstorms caused local wind damage from the Ozark Plateau to the Ohio and Tennessee Valley regions.

Weather outlook

A disturbance across the Great Lakes and northeastern states will trigger sporadic showers between today and Wednesday. Meanwhile, a slow-moving storm system will move inland along the Pacific coast before coming to a standstill in central Canada. Along the cold front where the storm follows, showers and thunderstorms will remain active for several days, and the total rainfall for 5 days from the Great Plains to the Mississippi Valley will reach 1 to 3 inches or more. Significantly higher rainfall (at least 5 inches) is likely to occur in parts of the south-central US. By contrast, hot, dry weather will prevail from California to the southwest for the rest of the week, while the eastern US will have only light rainfall.

The US National Weather Service's 6-10 day forecast from June 2 to June 6 predicts that most parts of the country may experience temperatures close to or above normal, with the exception of parts of Georgia and Carolina, where temperatures will fall below normal. Meanwhile, rainfall in most parts of the country is close to or above normal, in contrast to dry weather in parts of the northern and western inland plains.
