■SDGs Initiatives

The sustainability efforts of Nippon BS Broadcasting <9414> mainly include information dissemination that contributes to solving social issues. Various contents are produced to provide educational opportunities for various audience groups. In the regular program “Great People: Lessons from Defeat,” it is possible to decipher the background, factors, influences, etc. from the historical fiasco committed by great people, highlight the figures of great people, and use them as lessons for people living in the present day. The picture book storytelling program “Today's Picture Book” provides an opportunity for all children who open up the future to encounter picture books that enrich their hearts. In addition to regularly broadcasting “Kyoto Gaho” and “Kyoto Romance Eternal Story” as an inheritance of Kyoto culture, “Sakura Front National Caster Relay!” is broadcast while changing the theme every year and the anime event “Tochitere ☆ Anime Festival!” held in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture Sponsorship etc. are measures leading to regional development. In addition, we are working on measures that contribute to solving social issues through information dissemination, starting with content, such as broadcasting and distribution of programs that include raising issues related to the environment.

The subsidiaries Theorisha Co., Ltd. and Kokudosha Co., Ltd. belong to the “Association of Ten Children's Book Companies,” where publishers specializing in children's books gather for the purpose of publishing and disseminating high-quality children's books, and provide educational opportunities through published books.

Regarding the promotion of diversity, we are strengthening the environment for female employees to play an active role as gender equality, and mid-career recruitment to diversify human resources. According to the company, as of the 2023/8 fiscal year, the ratio is 37.8% for female employees, 27.6% for female managers, and 80% or more for mid-career hires. The company believes that diversity of content is important in order to provide attractive content to viewers as a broadcasting station, and since the diversity of human resources creates attractive diverse content, it is implementing a human resource strategy that emphasizes diversity. This idea also applies to the SDGs, and it seems to be well received by employees working at the company.
