Malaysian Shares Rebound on Thursday; Borneo Oil's Shares Balloon 100%

Malaysian shares ended in green on Wednesday, paring losses of the previous session, after a holiday.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, the main gauge of Malaysian stocks, added 7.09 points to end 0.44% higher at 1,629.18.

The index opened lower but kept adding gains as the session progressed. The day ranged between 1,620.66 and 1,632.79.

In economic news, the international reserves of Bank Negara Malaysia stood at $113.3 billion as of May 15, the central bank announced on Thursday.

The reserves position is sufficient to finance 5.4 months of imports of goods and services, and is one time of the total short-term external debt, it noted.

In other corporate news, shares of fast-food restaurant franchises operator Borneo Oil (KLSE:BORNOIL) skyrocketed 100%, while those the mobile virtual network operator XOX (KLSE:XOX) surged 50% on Thursday's close.
