Toward strengthening climate change initiatives
Apply for the international initiative “SBT” and join “RE100”
~Accelerating activities will push CO2 emissions targets 5 years ago~
The Nitto Group places ESG (environment, society, governance) at the center of management, and aims to balance solving social issues and creating economic value. Climate change, centered on global warming, is an issue common to all humankind, and it is necessary to resolve it in order to pass on a rich earth to the next generation. Recently, in order to accelerate decarbonization activities, along with joining “RE100,” which promotes social implementation of renewable energy, we have applied for SBT certification not only for our company but also for zero environmental impact throughout the supply chain.
In May 2022, “Nitto Group Carbon Neutral 2050”※3Among the medium-term management plans declared and announced in 2023, “CO” is an unfinancial target2“Reducing emissions” is our policy. CO emissions are unavoidable in manufacturing processes to ensure carbon neutrality by 20502As a result of implementing various measures along with the development of negative emission technology to collect and remove it, it is now visible that the 470 kilton target will be achieved ahead of schedule. In order to strengthen efforts to prevent climate change, the initial target “emissions of 470 ktons” for 2030 has been brought forward to 2025, and a new “emissions of 400 kton” has been set as the target for 2030.
Together with joining international initiatives, the Nitto Group will accelerate activities aimed at realizing a decarbonized society.
