Glonghui, May 21 | US car sales in 2023 were about 15.5 million units, up 12.4% year on year, mainly due to increased dealer inventories and car price reductions. Many automakers have achieved double-digit sales growth. According to Motor1 data, overall, 9 of the 10 best-selling cars in the US are trucks or SUVs. The Ford F Series has maintained its status as the best-selling car in the US for more than 40 years, with sales of 750,789 units last year. Of the 2 million cars Ford sold last year, nearly 40% were F series. Sales of electric vehicles increased 18% and sales of hybrid cars increased 25%. The Chevrolet Silverado electric pickup truck sold 555,148 units last year, ranking second in the bestseller list all year round. Overall, Silverado's sales are growing 6.1% per year. In 2023, the recommended retail price for the most affordable model was $38,195, while the recommended retail price for the Ford F-150 was $34,445. Dodge Ram series pickups and Toyota RAV4 SUVs sold 444,926 and 434,943 units respectively last year, ranking third and fourth respectively. Although Tesla did not report US sales data, according to EvAdoption.com estimates, Tesla Model Y SUVs sold 403,897 units, ranking fifth. TOP6-10 also includes Honda CR-V (361,457 vehicles), GM's high-end luxury brand GMC's Sierra pickup truck (295,737 units), Toyota Camry (290,649 units), Nissan Rogue small SUVs (271,458 units), and Jeep Grand Cherokee (244,594 units). The Toyota Camry is the only sedan in the top ten sales.
