According to InfluenceMap's latest climate policy participation assessment report, Toyota is at the bottom of the ranking of all automakers as one of the most active companies blocking climate-related legislation. The report indicates that Japanese automakers such as Suzuki, Mazda, and Toyota have been actively opposed to governments promulgating emission restrictions and policies promoting electric vehicles. Toyota publicly opposes the policy of treating pure electric vehicles as the only environmentally friendly solution, claiming that hybrid cars are the better choice because the supply of raw materials for electric vehicle batteries is limited. Furthermore, Toyota previously donated money to some climate change sceptical politicians, which has caused dissatisfaction among some investors.
