Smurfit Kappa Group PLC has announced the publication of a shareholder circular regarding its proposed merger with WestRock Company, aiming to establish a new entity called Smurfit WestRock. The merger is contingent on shareholder and Irish High Court approvals, with meetings scheduled for June 13, 2024. Shareholders are recommended by Smurfit Kappa’s board to vote in favor of the merger, which is anticipated to significantly reshape the future of the packaging industry.
