The US National Weather Service's 6-10 day forecast from May 18 to 22 predicts that most parts of the US are likely to be close to or higher than normal temperatures and precipitation.

The following are US agricultural weather tips for Monday May 13, 2024, compiled exclusively by the Jin10 Futures App

Western US region

In the western region, warm, mostly dry weather dominates. In fact, today's high temperatures will reach or exceed 100°F in some parts of the southwestern desert. About half of the average snowwater equivalent present in the Sierra Nevada Mountains on April 1 remained on the ground despite recent melting, according to the California Department of Water Resources.

American Plains

There was still rain from eastern Nebraska to parts of Texas earlier today. The warm, dry weather in the rest of the region is generally conducive to field work and crop growth. Today's maximum temperature should reach 80°F north of Eastern Montana.

American corn growing belt

Cool, dry air covers the far Midwest, where today's maximum temperature should be close to 70°F. Meanwhile, earlier today, the rain belt was passing through the southwestern corn belt, including parts of Nebraska, Missouri, and Iowa, as a low air pressure system passed. In the wettest regions, corn and soybean cultivation is still at a standstill. Meanwhile, warm, dry weather favors rapid planting in most parts of the eastern corn belt.

Southern region of the United States

Local heavy rains from eastern Texas to the central Gulf Coast states have triggered a new wave of flooding. Spring planting was progressing rapidly a few weeks ago, but has stalled in the wettest regions. Further east, however, much of the Florida peninsula is still very dry, accompanied by record warmth. On May 11, the highest temperature in Fort Lauderdale, Florida reached 98°F, setting a monthly site record.

Weather outlook

Early this week, warm weather will be briefly replaced by colder weather in almost all parts of the country, particularly in the Midwest and Northeast. However, temperatures in these colder regions will return to near or above normal later in the week. Meanwhile, some heavy rain will continue to move eastward from the southern and midwestern lowlands and clear the Atlantic coast in the middle of this week. However, when the southeastern rain ends, a new storm system will reach the south-central US, bringing a new round of heavy rain. Rainfall over the next five days is likely to reach 2 to 6 inches or more along the axis from eastern Texas to Georgia, and half of the southeastern corn belt may experience a total of 2 inches of rainfall. In contrast, over the next five days, the northwestern part of the Great Plains and the upper Midwest will have only light showers, while the area west of the Rocky Mountains will be dominated by warm, mostly dry weather. Temperatures north of California's Sacramento Valley may be close to 100°F in the middle of this week.

The US National Weather Service's 6-10 day forecast from May 18 to 22 predicts that most parts of the country are likely to be close to or higher than normal temperatures and precipitation. Subnormal conditions will be limited to the northern parts of the Rockies and Great Plains, while drier than normal weather should be limited to parts of the Pacific states (from Northern California to western Washington) and the southern part of the Rockies and High Plains.
