Singaporean Shares Close Marginally Higher Amidst Weak Earnings; AEM Shares Plummet 13%

Singapore shares moved marginally into the green on Thursday following subdued earnings reported by companies, while European markets delivered strong performance on Wednesday.

During the day, the benchmark Singapore Strait Times Index ranged between 3,241.13 and 3,267.97, ending 0.04% or 1.42 points higher at 3,265.95.

Shares of AEM Holdings (SGX:AWX) crashed nearly 13% after it posted a net profit of SG$2.3 million in the first quarter, an 85% drop from SG$15.6 million a year earlier.

Zixin Group's (SGX:42W) shares up were up nearly 11% after the company forecasted a net profit for the year ended March 31, 2024, compared to a net loss in the year-ago period.

Shares of Mermaid Maritime (SGX:DU4) were up over 2% after the company secured one-year contract extensions worth $125 million for offshore inspection, repair and maintenance services.
