Lenovo's first new memory technology in the world begins to be applied

The world's first laptop with an LPCAMM2 memory module has finally arrived, this is the Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 7, which is a major change compared to the existing LPDDR memory in most modern laptops. This type of memory is usually soldered to the motherboard, making upgrades more difficult. LPCAMM2, on the other hand, provides modular functionality without losing the efficacy of LPDDR. Importantly, LPCAMM2 technology has features such as high bandwidth, low power consumption and large capacity, which can well promote the application of AI on PCs.

Using LPDDR5X memory, LPCAMM2's speed is up to 7,500 MT/s, 1.3 times faster than DDR5 SODIMM. This memory form factor also reduces power consumption and extends battery life. Compared to DDR5 SODIMMs, standby power consumption is reduced by up to 80%, so users can work longer on the go without compromising performance. Providing higher bandwidth and dual channel support through a single module, it's an ideal high-performance memory solution for mobile workstations and AI PC workloads.

An LPCAMM2 module can fill the full 128-bit CPU bus width, maximizing bandwidth for AI workloads and applications, and unlocking the greater potential of AI PCs. According to PCMark 10 tests, users can improve the performance of digital content creation workloads by up to 7% and increase workload productivity by up to 15%. Unlike soldered memory, LPCAMM2 is upgradeable, and users can easily replace modules and increase memory capacity when needed. It also has a thinner, fanless design, making it more portable and stylish.
