By the midday close, Hong Kong stocks had risen 908, down 874, and closed at 1,228.

On the sector side, the majority of TechNet stocks weakened. Tencent rose nearly 1%, Ali, Baidu, and Jingdong fell slightly, Meituan, Xiaomi, and Bilibili fell more than 1%, and Kuaishou fell nearly 2%.
Biotech stocks rose, with Tiger Pharmaceuticals up nearly 7%, Zhaoyan Pharmaceuticals up nearly 6%, Pharmaceutical Ming Biotech by more than 5%, and Pharmacovigilance by more than 3%.
Heavy machinery stocks strengthened. Sany International rose more than 9%, Sinotruk rose more than 5%, and Zoomlion Heavy Industries rose more than 4%.
Road transport stocks rose strongly. Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway shares rose nearly 9%, while the Anhui Wantong Expressway and the Jiangsu-Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway rose more than 4%.
Travel and tourism stocks generally rose. Ctrip Group rose nearly 3%, Hong Kong China Travel rose more than 2%, Tongcheng Travel rose more than 1%, and China China Free rose nearly 1%.
Domestic housing stocks weakened, with Shimao Group falling more than 5%, Sunac China and Agile Group falling more than 4%, and Vanke falling more than 3%.
